Board
of Directors
The ISTEC Board of Directors, whose members are elected by the General Assembly, carry out the policies established by the General Assembly, promote Consortium activities and have the authority to endorse proposals submitted by members. The Board holds regular meetings every six months, and whenever it is required for the correct operation of the Consortium, providing funds are available. It also has the capacity to admit new members on a provisional basis.

| Dr. Roberto Murphy – Chairman of the Board |

| Roberto Murphy studied Physics at St. John’s University, Minnesota, and got his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the National Institute for Research on Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE), inTonantzintla, Puebla, México.. In 1994-1995 he was a visiting researcher at the Interuniversitary Microelectronics Center (IMEC) in Heverlee, Belgium. He is currently a senior researcher with the Microelectronics Laboratory, and the Academic Dean of the INAOE. Dr. Murphy’s research interests are the physics, modeling and characterization of the MOS Transistor and passive components for high frequency applications, especially for CMOS wireless circuits, and antenna design. Dr. Murphy is a Senior Member of IEEE, a member of ISTEC’s Board of Directors, he is the Treasurer for the Mexican Council of Graduate Studies (COMEPO), is a member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences and belongs to the Mexican National System of Researchers. |

| Dr. Dario Francisco Guimarães de Azevedo |

A native of Brazil, Dario F. Guimarães de Azevedo obtained his Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering Degree in 1996 from the University of Miami. Prior to his degree, he attended, in Brazil, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, UFRGS, Porto Alegre, from 1981 to 1983 and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, PUC/RJ, from 1975 to 1979. In the USA he attended the George Washington University, G.W.U., in 1974 for 2 years. |

| Dr. Wilfrido Moreno |
|
| Dr. Wilfrido A. Moreno is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of South Florida and director for the Ibero American Science and Technology Educational Consortium at USF, (USF-ISTEC). In the area of research, Dr. Moreno is a founding member of the formerly Center for Microelectronics Research, (CMR), presently the Nanomaterials & Nanomanufacturing Research Center (NNRC) where he serves as the supervisor for the System Integration and Laser Processing Laboratory. Dr. Moreno’s current research interest is oriented towards system integration by providing “off-the-shelf” hardware/software solutions to industrial application in the areas of Digital Signal Processing, Communications, Industrial Controls, Microelectronics, Biomedical Engineering and Multimedia Solutions including Voice and Video over IP applied to Distance Learning Solutions. |

| Dr. Jesus Finol |
|
| Dr. Jesus Finol is a dynamic, results-oriented Engineering Executive with international vision, perseverance and strong will power. Dr. Finol has a record of career success, professionalism, experience and integrity in diverse areas of the semiconductor industry. Over 25 years of Communication Technologies experience and over 15 years experience in relevant top managerial and project leader positions in the private sector national and international. Motorola and the Hispanic Engineering Society have recognized him for outstanding professional performance. Jesus is Fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese. A native from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Jesus Finol started his career as a Professor at Simon Bolivar University in Caracas, Venezuela. From 1972-1982 He taught graduate and undergraduate classes in Semiconductors, Electromagnetic Theory and integrated circuit design. |

Martina Trucco |
|
| Martina is the University Relations Manager for Latin America at Hewlett Packard Company, working closely with Lueny Morell, Director of University Relations Latin America. Martina is responsible for developing HP’s University Technology programs in the Latin America region, and manages University Relations Philanthropy activities for Latin America. In tandem with the Director, she works to develop and strengthen HP’s ties to a select number of institutions in Latin America. Current coverage countries include: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. |

| Yanire Rodriguez |
|
| Graduated as a Computer Engineer in the University of London, England with a post graduate in Marketing from the Universidad Catolica, Venezuela. Held different positions at IBM Venezuela during a period 8 years.
Has work for Sun Microsystems for the last 10 years, 6 of those as a Regional Director for Education and Research, Latinoamerica region.
Has being part of ISTEC Board of Director for the last 3 years and would like to be part of it again, since I think it is the best way to close the digital divide in our region. |
