A native of Brazil, Dario F. Guimarães de Azevedo obtained his Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering Degree in 1996 from the University of Miami. Prior to his degree, he attended, in Brazil, the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, UFRGS, Porto Alegre, from 1981 to 1983 and the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, PUC/RJ, from 1975 to 1979. In the USA he attended the George Washington University, G.W.U., in 1974 for 1 year.

Dr. Duszynski was an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of New Mexico from 1974 to 1979.
