The purpose of this conference is twofold: 1) it will offer a platform to discuss engineering trends in education & research, and 2) it will also provide a system approach to develop a framework under which academics, business leaders, government officials, and community leaders can discuss how effective collaboration in engineering education can be a positive force to support the social and economic development of the Ibero-American Region.

It is known that in order to achieve a social system that is sustainable for future generations; the engineering of the future requires special skills to innovate, seek excellence, engage in lifelong learning and carry the profession with a very high sense of social responsibility and personal commitment to improve the social and economic conditions of our region.

In this regard, the engineering education of the future needs to be able to collaborate across cultures and disciplines, be globally aware of pressing social issues, and obtain global skills to be competitive and efficient in providing solutions choices that have social impact, respond to climate change, health issues, and provide solutions that will allow future generations to subsist.

The conference consists of keynote presentations, panel discussions and technical sessions. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings, and the best papers will be recommended for publication in appropriate refereed journals.
