The ISTEC General Assembly (GA) is a renowned event that brings together prestigious institutions of Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. Several events such as seminars, conferences, workshops, discussion forums and networking activities are held within the framework of the General Assembly, where participants can interact and network.
The objectives of the General Assembly are to:
- Support Science and Technology development through technology transfer and by offering training on state of the art technologies and practices,
- Facilitate the exchange of best practices to maximize resources, identify common areas of interest and to promote inter-institutional cooperation to establish innovative alliances,
- Create strong partnerships and alliances among participants from the Ibero- American region to disseminate international cooperation programs and to implement joint international R&D projects that will improve the quality of life in the region.
Under the theme "Using Technology to enable Collaboration, and Collaboration to advance Science and Technology", the XVII ISTEC General Assembly events focus on presenting the latest trends and practices on:
- Nanotechnology
- Bi-National Energy Initiatives and Policy
- Digital Libraries
- Online Collaborative Learning Communities
- Trends on Engineering Education and Collaboration
- Health, sustainable development, and technological solutions for underserved communities
- Research and Development on DSP, FPGAs, embedded systems, wireless sensors networks, among others.
Besides the conferences and seminars on these themes, during the week several workshops and discussion forums will be held under the ISTEC Initiatives: Research and Development (R&D), Library Linkages (LibLink), Advanced Continued Education (ACE), and Los Libertadores. The final of the III Ibero-American Student Contest will also take place the second half of the week.
To complement the academic integration, this year the events of the General Assembly also includes an "International Business Matchmaking" that will not only promote commercial and economic exchanges, but also the establishment of strategic alliances between academia, industry and government.
