Design Fundamentals for DSP: Guillermo Jaquenod.

One of main obstacles encountered for the introduction of DSP in industrial processes is the notion that it use requires advanced mathematical skills. Even though it is true that some math is required for understanding and applying Digital Signal Processing, some applications with either medium or low level of mathematics can be developed using a set of rather simple theoretical concepts. This is the overall approach to DSP that you will find in this course. All the materials are available only in Spanish; we hope to have this accessible set of tools for developing DSP projects available in other languages soon.

This course focuses the VHDL (Hardware description language) used for synthesis purposes using ALTERA Flex10K and MAX+Plus II from Altera. The HDL language is a formal tools that allows the user to describe the behavior and structure of electronic systems (also applicable to other systems) using a textual squema.

The design process of an electronic product is a complex creative process that begins when a conceptual goal is defined and ends when the programmed device is fully functional. The ever increasing complexity of CPLD devices forces the designer to use powerful specific Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools to move from ideas to hardware, and many EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools are now used to enhance the designer’s overall productivity.
