Scholarships at University of Vigo for undergraduate, master and Ph.D. degrees

The University of Vigo is a partner in two consortia of universities (EMUNDUS15 and EMUNDUS17) for which the European Commission funds a number of mobility grants for higher education (bachelor, master and doctorate). South American countries with partners in the consortia include Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. Citizens of these countries can apply for mobility grants, regardless if their institution is or not a member of the consortium.

EMUNDUS15 and EMUNDUS17 cover travel expenses and mandatory insurance for beneficiaries, and in addition provide a monthly allowance:

  • € 1,000 for Bachelor and Master
  • € 1,500 for Ph.D.
  • € 1.800 for Postdoctoral
  • € 2,500 for academic staff

Detailed information on both programs can be found at http://www.usc.es/emundus/lot15 and http://www.usc.es/emundus/lot17.

Engineering constitutes a priority area for both EMUNDUS15 and EMUNDUS17. Therefore, the Graduate Program “Applications of Signal Processing in Communications” of the University of Vigo (http://webs.uvigo.es/mastersigma) invites prospective students from Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay that may be interested in joining the program for the academic year 2010-2011 to apply for these mobility grants. Similarly, the Signal Processing in Communications Group (www.gts. tsc.uvigo.es/gpsc) invites researchers from these nationalities interested in a postdoctoral research stay to seek such funding. The deadline for applications is November 16, 2009.

This Graduate Program is aimed at graduates in Telecommunication Engineering and other related degrees (Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc) who seek appropriate training on subjects related to current needs of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector.

Graduates from this Master will be able to respond to industry’s high demand for experts in the areas of digital communications, multimedia, and networking, including both analog circuit design and real-time digital systems.

The Masters Program “Applications of Signal Processing in Communications” comprises both research- and industry-oriented tracks, and provides internship opportunities at several ICT companies as well as with the Galician R&D center in advanced telecommunications (GRADIANT).

The duration of this Masters Program, which is adapted to the directives of the European Space for Higher Education, is of one year full-time (60 ECTS), or two years part-time (30 ECTS per year).
