Representatives from Ibero-American Universities will meet with the purpose of sharing experiences, ideas and concrete actions on current challenges and trends at the international level in the areas of collaboration and international networks on research and education.

Discussion topics include:

- Double-Degree Graduate Programs: Master and PhD,

- Faculty, Researcher and Student Exchanges,

- Thematic Research Networks (capacity building, infrastructure and training)

- Funding opportunities, and

- Curricular Development

This event constitutes a first step towards the creation of a critical mass of experts and collaborators interested on actively promoting international collaborations that can positively influence industry, government, academia, and the civil society in North, Central, South America and the Iberian Peninsula.

 THE TOP 2008 STUDENT PROJECTS

The Finals of the II Ibero-American Student Contest: Innovations for Sustainable Development will be held in Cancun, México from December 8^th to 9^th, 2008 in conjunction with the 47^th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control.

17 projects were selected from over 12 countries to participate in the final. Five projects from the LCE Chapter (Latin-America, The Caribbean and The United States) will be competing with the top four projects of the Iberian Peninsula for the title of "Best 2008 Ibero-American Student Project" and well-deserved prizes from Hewlett Packard, proud sponsor of this year contest.

At the same time the best 8 projects developed with Sun Microsystems technologies will be competing for 2 Ultra-Workstations in an exciting Monday that will showcase the scientific talent of engineering students to solve current problems.

The finals will be held at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun. Come and support your favorite project on December 8!!
